SDA CEO Bo Kemp Discusses $100 Million Southland Monarch Fund on CAN TV

Unlocking the Chicago Southland’s full potential is a considerable undertaking. And the Southland Development Authority (SDA), headed by its CEO, Bo Kemp, is taking serious measures to make it happen.

Kemp recently appeared on CAN TV’s Chicago Newsroom 2.0 to discuss the newly announced Monarch Fund, an innovative investment model projected to mobilize $100 million for real estate development, energy infrastructure, and business expansion across the region.

During the conversation, Kemp explained how the fund aims to address longstanding barriers. He said there are many of those barriers. Including private investment, infrastructure limitations, land acquisition challenges, and the time required to bring major development projects to fruition.

The discussion also honed in on Southland Bloom. The proposed 250-acre mixed-use development in University Park. Despite its proximity to Interstate 57, Governors State University, and major industrial employers, much of the area remains undeveloped due to infrastructure constraints.

Kemp outlined how the SDA is actually working with communities to overcome those obstacles. All while attracting private investment that still considers local priorities.

The interview also explored a central goal of the Southland Monarch Fund, that being generating investment returns that can be reinvested into the SDA's ongoing economic development work throughout the Chicago Southland.

Watch Bo Kemp's conversation on CAN TV's Chicago Newsroom 2.0 to learn more about the Southland Monarch Fund and SDA's vision for the region.
